Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure Microcuff Paediatric Endotracheal (ET) Tubes, specifically designed for safe paediatric intubations, ensuring compliance with specified standards and specifications. The procurement aims to supply high-quality, latex-free, microcuffed oral RAE tubes with precise markings, CE certification, and a minimum shelf life of two years to meet clinical requirements at Grey’s Hospital.

Scope

The scope encompasses the supply of the following:

• Microcuff Paed ET tubes in sizes 4.0mm and 4.5mm, with specified dimensions and features such as Murphy eye, CE marking, manufacturing date, expiry date, and original packaging.
• Delivery to Grey’s Hospital, Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal, within the contract period (once-off).
• Provision of samples for evaluation, if required, and adherence to technical specifications and quality standards.
• Compliance with departmental procurement policies, including preference points and statutory requirements.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications for the Microcuff Paed ET tubes include:

• Size 4mm: OD 5.5mm, length 232mm, cuff 8mm, with Murphy eye, clear markings, and original packaging.
• Size 4.5mm: OD 6.2mm, length 253mm, cuff 11mm, with Murphy eye, clear markings, and original packaging.
• Material: Latex-free, advanced micro-thin polyurethane cuff membrane (10 microns).
• Effective seal at an average cuff pressure of 11cm H2O.
• Minimum shelf life of two years, with manufacturing and expiry dates clearly marked.
• Compliance with CE standards and inclusion of CE number and manufacturing date.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must demonstrate:

• Technical expertise in manufacturing or supplying medical endotracheal tubes that meet international standards.
• Ability to provide original, CE-certified products with proper documentation and packaging.
• Capacity to supply samples for evaluation and adhere to specified specifications and quality standards.
• Experience in healthcare procurement, particularly in supplying paediatric medical devices.
• Compliance with legal, statutory, and departmental procurement policies, including preference points and declaration of interests.
• Provision of necessary documentation such as SARS PIN, VAT registration, and proof of manufacturing or distribution capabilities.
