Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure a service for the supply, installation, maintenance, and repair of mortuary and kitchen cold room facilities at Victoria Mxenge Hospital, under the Department of Health in KwaZulu-Natal. The project aims to ensure the proper functioning and safety of cold storage units essential for hospital operations, including preventive maintenance, repairs, and technical support.

Scope

The scope encompasses:

• Provision of mortuary and kitchen cold room services, including supply, installation, and maintenance.
• Technical scope covering electrical, refrigeration, and safety requirements for cold rooms and associated equipment.
• Preventive maintenance schedules for refrigeration units, including major servicing, inspections, and repairs.
• Provision of spare parts, consumables, and technical documentation.
• Compliance with safety, health, and environmental standards.
• Site inspections, site briefing sessions, and submission of detailed work plans and reports.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications include:

• Electrical components: installation and maintenance of walk-in fridge and freezer units, including specific models and standards.
• Refrigeration: routine servicing, condenser cleaning, leak detection, and system diagnostics.
• Safety: adherence to safety standards, safety files, and risk assessments, including PPE and hazard controls.
• Equipment standards: compliance with SANS 1850 for kitchen extraction systems, CIDB registration, and certified tradespersons.
• Preventive maintenance: scheduled inspections, calibration, cleaning, and repairs as per the prescribed schedule.
• Documentation: submission of pro forma invoices, service reports, and compliance certificates.

Skills Requirements

The tender requires bidders to possess:

• Registered CIDB contractor registration in relevant categories.
• Trade-tested electricians and refrigeration technicians with certified CVs.
• Competent personnel with relevant qualifications and experience in electrical, refrigeration, and safety standards.
• Ability to perform preventive maintenance, repairs, and system diagnostics.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations, including risk assessments and safety files.
• Capability to prepare detailed work plans, site inspection reports, and technical documentation.
• Proven track record in hospital or similar critical infrastructure maintenance.
