Objectives

The tender aims to procure multiparameter monitors with capnography capability suitable for transport use, including features such as ECG, NIBP, temperature, SpO2, IBP, and CO2 monitoring. The objective is to acquire portable, user-friendly, high-resolution monitors that meet technical and safety standards for adult, paediatric, and neonatal patients, ensuring reliable performance, compatibility with existing systems, and compliance with relevant legislation and standards.

Scope

The scope encompasses the supply, delivery, installation, commissioning, and end-user training of multiparameter monitors with capnography for transport applications at Addington Hospital. It includes provision of accessories, disposables, optional peripherals, and support services such as maintenance, calibration, and demonstration units. The contract covers technical specifications, compliance requirements, and adherence to procurement policies within the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Health.

Technical Requirements

• Portable multiparameter monitors with ECG, NIBP, temperature, SpO2, IBP, and CO2 (capnography) monitoring.
• High-resolution colour display (minimum 21cm diagonal) with clear visibility over 3 metres, angle viewing capability, and user-friendly menu system.
• Compatibility with adult, paediatric, and neonatal patients; includes theatre and ICU modes.
• Operation off 220V ± 10%, 50Hz mains power and internal rechargeable batteries with automatic switch-over and indicator.
• Built-in thermal printer, impact-resistant casing, wall-mounting options, and carry handle.
• Compliance with safety standards, radiation licensing, electromagnetic compatibility, and protection against defibrillator voltages.
• Provision for alarms (audible and visual), adjustable limits, and silencing features.
• Support for various ECG leads, pulse oximetry technologies, and disposable sensors with specified lengths.
• Automatic zero calibration, obstruction detection, and trend analysis capabilities.
• Support for optional accessories, including reusable and disposable leads, probes, cuffs, and consumables.
• Support for in-line and external CO2 sampling with moisture and contamination control.

Skills Requirements

• Manufacturers' trained technicians for installation, calibration, maintenance, and repair.
• Provision of comprehensive user operation, maintenance, and service manuals in English.
• Demonstration of equipment functionality and performance to technical and clinical end-users.
• Ongoing training for health technology staff, including calibration, troubleshooting, and repair procedures.
• Support for technical queries, repairs, and calibration services within KwaZulu-Natal.
• Compliance with legislation regarding radiation licensing, safety standards, and import/export regulations.
