Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure Geographic Information System (GIS) training services for the Namakwa District Municipality. The training aims to equip users with foundational skills in GIS software, enabling them to create, customize, and analyze spatial data, as well as overlay various image formats and interpret geographic information effectively.

Scope

The scope of work includes providing beginner-level GIS training to municipal staff in Springbok. The training will cover:

• Basics of mapping and GIS fundamentals
• Creating and customizing maps with data layers and visual styles, including 3D mapping
• Overlaying image files such as JPEG, TIFF, BMP, and PNG for mapping purposes
• Understanding spatial data requirements and coordinate systems
• Performing spatial analysis, evaluating data, and identifying patterns such as hotspots using census data, satellite imagery, and survey coordinates

Technical Requirements

The training provider must:

• Offer SAQA-accredited GIS training, with proof of accreditation
• Conduct training at the Springbok location or at the provider’s facilities
• Provide a formal certificate upon completion
• Deliver a 5-day training program
• Ensure facilitators are qualified and registered practitioners, with proof of registration
• Be CSD registered, with proof of registration
• Enrol at least 10 employees in the training program

Skills Requirements

The service provider must demonstrate:

• Experience in delivering GIS training, preferably with similar projects
• Qualified facilitators with relevant certifications and registration
• Ability to provide comprehensive training on GIS basics, data analysis, map customization, and overlay techniques
• Capacity to deliver training in a professional and effective manner, ensuring participants gain practical skills in GIS software
