Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to solicit quotations for the repair of two nursery hot water storage tanks at Victoria Mxenge Hospital, KwaZulu-Natal. The aim is to ensure the tanks are repaired to meet safety and operational standards, including leak repairs, structural reinforcement, and installation of necessary fittings and components, with a guarantee on workmanship and materials.

Scope

The scope encompasses:

• Inspection and assessment of existing tanks.
• Disassembly, dismantling, and careful reconstruction of the tanks to replicate original configurations.
• Replacement of damaged structural components, including corner framing with stainless steel angle iron.
• Installation of new freezer panels and securement within the tank structure.
• Manufacture and installation of a new canopy with pipe and flange connections.
• Installation of new ball valves and relevant fittings.
• Manufacture and installation of two Sprague coils identical to existing ones.
• Leak repairs and sealing of all identified leaks.
• Commissioning and putting the tanks back into operation.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications include:

• Passing the second tank with all necessary fittings and pipes.
• Draining water using a submersible pump if no drain valve is available.
• Careful dismantling to capture configuration and design.
• Replacing corner framing with 316 stainless steel angle iron (100mm x 10mm thick), welded joints, no bolts/nuts.
• Fitting new 80mm thick freezer panels within a newly constructed frame, secured and sealed.
• Manufacturing and installing a new canopy with all relevant pipe and flange connections.
• Installing a new 316 stainless steel ball valve with Teflon seal.
• Manufacturing and installing two 316 ss Sprague coils matching existing specifications.
• All leaks to be repaired, with a two-year guarantee on all work and materials.
• Electrical items to be handled only by VMH electrical personnel; contractor to coordinate accordingly.
• Reinstallation, testing, and commissioning of the tanks to restore full operation.

Skills Requirements

The tender requires:

• Certified and experienced fitters with comprehensive CVs and CIDB registration (minimum 3ME registration).
• Trade-tested fitters with valid certifications and proof of competency.
• Skilled welders capable of welding stainless steel with no bolt and nut joints, ensuring smooth, durable welds.
• Qualified personnel for manufacturing and installing structural components, panels, and canopies.
• Electrical coordination with VMH electrical foreman for electrical components, ensuring safety and compliance.
• Ability to perform leak repairs, structural dismantling, and reassembly adhering to safety standards.
• Capability to manufacture and install coils and panels to specified standards.
