Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure and supply various surgical and medical consumables, including paediatric and adult breathing systems, filters, and related accessories, to Victoria Mxenge Hospital under the Department of Health in KwaZulu-Natal. The aim is to ensure the availability of compliant, high-quality medical supplies that meet specified standards for patient care and safety.

Scope

The scope encompasses the supply, delivery, and potential installation or commissioning of specified medical devices and consumables, such as:

• Paediatric Heat and Moisture Exchange Filters (25–200ml volume)
• Paediatric and adult breathing systems with specified specifications (e.g., T-piece, close tail bags, adult circuits)
• Disposable adult and paediatric breathing circuits
• Other related accessories as detailed in the specifications

The procurement covers the entire process from quotation, evaluation, to delivery at Victoria Mxenge Hospital, with a contract period of once-off supply, subject to the specified validity period of 90 days.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications for the items include, but are not limited to:

• Compliance with ISO or equivalent standards
• Specific sizes, such as 25–200ml for paediatric filters and 1.0L or 0.5L for breathing bags
• Electrostatic, bacterial and viral efficiency of ≥99%
• Materials that are latex-free, non-pyrogenic, hypoallergenic, and non-toxic
• Single-use, sterile, and individually packed items
• Design features such as transparent, non-conductive housing, integrated angled elbows, and secure fittings
• Items must be clinically clean and conform to the detailed specifications provided in annexures

Skills and Competency Requirements

Suppliers must demonstrate:

• Proven capacity to supply and deliver medical consumables that meet technical and quality standards
• Experience in supplying hospital-grade medical devices and consumables
• Ability to provide compliant documentation, including certificates of conformity, quality standards, and proof of South African ownership (for preference points)
• Knowledge of procurement procedures, including submission of accurate quotations on official forms, adherence to delivery timelines, and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
• Capacity to handle technical queries and provide after-sales support, if applicable

All bidders must also be registered on the Central Suppliers Database (CSD) and provide relevant compliance documentation as part of their submission.
