Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure pest control services for Benedictine Hospital and its associated clinics and primary health care facilities. The services aim to ensure effective, high-quality, comprehensive, and cost-effective pest management through proactive and reactive interventions, including inspections, treatments, and emergency responses, over a period of 12 months.

Scope

The scope encompasses:

• Provision of pest control services at Benedictine Hospital and 14 clinics under its management.
• Monthly site inspections, pest identification, and treatment across hospital and clinics.
• Risk assessments and implementation of best practices to eliminate pests.
• Emergency callouts and weekend services as required.
• Supply and installation of bait stations, fly screens, snake repellents, and fumigation services.
• Ad-hoc services including wasp and bee removal, snake removal, and insect catcher installation.
• Provision of safety data sheets, compliance with safety standards, and maintenance of safety files.
• Services for pest control in hospital kitchens and food storage areas.
• Services for pest control at 14 clinics with specific distance considerations and transportation logistics.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Membership of the South African Pest Control Association (SAPCA) or relevant body, with proof of certification.
• Experience in providing pest control services for at least one establishment within the last five years, supported by references.
• Qualified pest control technicians with valid registration certificates from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.
• Use of SABS-approved chemicals and pesticides that are safe for use in food environments, with safety data sheets provided.
• Implementation of insect proofing, bait stations, and pest eradication measures aligned with best practices.
• Provision of comprehensive safety files and adherence to health and safety regulations.
• Availability of emergency support within 24 hours and provision of a detailed treatment schedule for 12 months.
• Proper installation and maintenance of pest control equipment, including fly screens, bait stations, and snake repellents.
• Adherence to specified service areas and schedules, including special treatments like fumigation and tenting where necessary.

Skills Requirements

The tender requires bidders to demonstrate:

• Certified and experienced pest control technicians with valid operator certificates.
• Ability to conduct risk assessments and implement effective pest management strategies.
• Proficiency in handling and applying SABS-approved chemicals safely and effectively.
• Capability to install, service, and maintain pest control infrastructure such as bait stations, fly screens, and insect traps.
• Strong reporting skills to provide monthly service reports, treatment reports, and safety documentation.
• Emergency response skills with a 24-hour turnaround time for callouts.
• Knowledge of health and safety compliance, including safety data sheets and safety file management.
• Ability to perform ad-hoc pest control services (e.g., wasp, bee, snake removal) with separate quotations and specialized equipment.
