Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure pest control services for St Margarets CHC, including fumigation and pest eradication for various pests such as cockroaches, rodents, flies, ants, fleas, bedbugs, silverfish, mosquitoes, wasps, midges, termites, and bird lice. The service aims to prevent and eliminate pests within the facility, ensuring a safe and hygienic environment.

Scope

The scope encompasses:

• Provision of pest control services over an 8-month contract period.
• Monthly pest control and fumigation at St Margarets CHC.
• Treatment of specified pests in various areas including wards, storage rooms, plant rooms, sewerage systems, and external surroundings.
• Adherence to specified treatment procedures, safety standards, and record-keeping.
• Optional services such as termite and bee control, which may require separate quotations.

Technical Requirements

• Use of registered pest control operators compliant with Fertilizers, Farm Feeds, and Agricultural Remedies & Stock Remedies Act 36 of 1947.
• Application of approved chemicals in accordance with SABS codes of practice and Occupational Health & Safety Act 85 of 1993.
• Provision of treatment plans, safety data sheets, and proof of registration with relevant authorities (e.g., S.A. Pest Control Association).
• Regular treatment intervals of 20-30 days for chemical effectiveness.
• Liability insurance and employee compensation coverage.
• Record-keeping of treatments, inspections, and service reports.
• Availability of emergency pest control services with specified call-out rates.

Skills Requirements

• Qualified pest control operators with valid registration and certification.
• Experience in handling pest control in healthcare facilities.
• Knowledge of chemical application, safety protocols, and environmental considerations.
• Ability to prepare treatment reports, maintain records, and comply with health and safety standards.
• Effective communication skills for site inspections, reporting, and coordination with hospital staff.
