Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure a pest control service for nine clinics under St Chads Community Health Centre. The service aims to effectively eradicate and control pests such as rats, mice, cockroaches, bird lice, ants, moth larvae, fish moths, bees, termites, and woodborers across all clinic buildings. Additionally, the service includes annual removal of bees, treatment of termites and white ants, and pest prevention measures to ensure a hygienic and pest-free environment for patients and staff.

Scope

The scope encompasses:

• Provision of pest control services at nine satellite clinics associated with St Chads CHC in KwaZulu-Natal.
• Full treatment of all areas within each clinic monthly over a 12-month period.
• Removal of bees, treatment of termites/woodborers, and white ants annually.
• Reinstallation and maintenance of bait stations, including numbering and record-keeping.
• Spraying of all manholes, waste storage areas, and plant rooms during each service.
• Provision of MSDS for all pesticides used and certification of treatment after each service.
• Reporting and signing in/out procedures during service visits.
• Provision of a detailed breakdown of charges per clinic.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications include:

• Service to be carried out during normal working hours with minimal disruption.
• Service provider must be registered with the South African Pest Control Association (SAPCA).
• Submission of a schedule of proposed service dates for the year prior to commencement.
• Use of pesticides compliant with South African Pest Control Act 1983 (Control Measure R858).
• Proof of previous similar pest control work.
• Reinstallation and maintenance of bait stations with proper numbering and record-keeping.
• All bait stations to be replenished at each service.
• Proper handling and disposal of pesticides, with MSDS documentation provided.
• Adherence to safety and reporting procedures, including signing in/out and record-keeping.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must demonstrate:

• Registered membership with SAPCA or equivalent pest control authority.
• Experience in managing pest control in healthcare or similar institutional environments.
• Ability to provide proof of previous similar jobs completed successfully.
• Competence in handling and applying pesticides safely and in accordance with legislation.
• Capacity to prepare and adhere to a detailed service schedule and reporting system.
• Provision of MSDS for all pesticides used and certification of each treatment.
• Qualified personnel capable of maintaining bait stations and performing pest control treatments.
• Good record-keeping and reporting skills, including signed schedules and detailed invoices.
