Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure pest control services for Ntuzuma Clinic, ensuring effective eradication and management of various pests including rats, mice, cockroaches, ants, moths, fleas, wasps, bed bugs, bird lice, mites, mosquitoes, and other insects. The service aims to maintain a pest-free environment within the healthcare facility over a 36-month period, with provisions for chemical treatment alternated quarterly to prevent resistance, and compliance with environmental and safety standards.

Scope

The scope encompasses:

• Monthly pest control services at Ntuzuma Clinic for 36 months.
• Treatment of all rooms, enclosures, built-in cupboards, external buildings, catchment areas, drains, sewage, storm water manholes, and perimeter of the facility.
• Provision and servicing of rodent bait stations.
• Use of environmentally friendly chemicals, with alternation of five different chemicals for cockroach treatment and three for rodent control, over the contract period.
• Adherence to occupational health and safety regulations, including PPE for staff and disposal of waste.
• Reporting, record-keeping, and compliance with pest control standards and certification requirements.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Provision of pest control services as per specifications, including chemical application, baiting, and treatment of all specified areas.
• Use of approved chemicals with Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), alternated quarterly.
• Application of chemicals in all rooms, cupboards, external buildings, and perimeter areas, including opening and spraying drains and sewage systems.
• Installation and servicing of rodent bait stations, with removal of old stations and placement of new bait stations monthly.
• Provision of a comprehensive pest control management file, including company details, safety certificates, and compliance documentation.
• Immediate re-treatment at no extra cost if re-infestation occurs between scheduled services.
• Proper signage, safety gear, and adherence to occupational health and safety regulations during service delivery.
• Submission of detailed reports post-service, including pest activity and chemical usage.

Skills Requirements

The tenderer must demonstrate:

• Membership of the South African Pest Control Association and registration under relevant pest control regulations.
• Qualified and trained personnel equipped with appropriate PPE and safety certifications.
• Ability to handle and apply chemicals safely, with knowledge of environmental and health standards.
• Experience in managing pest control in healthcare or similar sensitive environments.
• Capability to maintain detailed records, reports, and logs of pest control activities.
• Compliance with occupational health and safety legislation, including proper disposal of chemicals and waste.
• Provision of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for all chemicals used.
