Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure pest control services for KwaMashu Community Health Centre (KCHC) and Poly Clinic. The services aim to eradicate and control various pests including rats, mice, cockroaches, ants, moths, flies, fleas, wasps, bedbugs, bird lice, mites, mosquitoes, and other insects. The contract ensures ongoing pest management over a specified period, maintaining a hygienic and pest-free environment within the healthcare facilities.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Provision of monthly pest control services over a 36-month period.
• Treatment of all rooms, enclosures, built-in cupboards, and external buildings including catchment areas and perimeter zones.
• Application of chemicals and gels, with alternation of chemicals quarterly to prevent resistance.
• Installation and servicing of rodent bait stations at strategic locations.
• Monitoring and treatment of external sewage and storm water drainage systems.
• Provision of pest control services responding to infestations within 24 hours of notification.
• Maintenance of comprehensive pest control records and reports.
• Compliance with occupational health and safety regulations, including use of PPE and environmentally friendly chemicals.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify:

• Use of approved, environmentally friendly chemicals with MSDS documentation.
• Application of pest control treatments in all designated areas, including internal and external zones.
• Alternation of five different chemicals for cockroach treatment quarterly.
• Use of registered and licensed pest control professionals, compliant with SA Pest Control standards.
• Provision of a detailed pest control management plan, including schedules, chemical types, and treatment methods.
• Installation and servicing of rodent bait stations, with proper documentation and safety measures.
• Regular reporting, including signed service registers and post-service reports.
• Adherence to occupational health and safety regulations, including PPE for personnel and safe disposal of chemicals and waste.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must demonstrate:

• Registered membership with the South African Pest Control Association.
• Licensed and certified pest control technicians with relevant qualifications and experience.
• Knowledge of integrated pest management practices and environmental safety standards.
• Ability to prepare and submit comprehensive pest control plans and reports.
• Capacity to respond promptly to infestation reports and emergencies.
• Experience in managing pest control in healthcare or similar sensitive environments.
• Compliance with occupational health and safety legislation, including PPE provision and chemical handling protocols.
