Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure pest control services at Sivananda Clinic for a 12-month contract. The services aim to eradicate and control various pests such as rats, mice, cockroaches, bird lice, ants, moth larvae, and fish moths across multiple health facilities under the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Health. The contract excludes termite and bee eradication unless a separate quotation is requested for such services.

Scope

The scope encompasses:

• Provision of pest control services at Sivananda Clinic and associated health facilities, including Inanda CHC, Viewtown Clinic, and other specified areas.
• Monthly pest eradication and control activities, including treatment of all relevant areas such as wards, storage rooms, sewerage, storm water manholes, water pipes, and external structures.
• Re-infestation response, requiring immediate re-service at no additional cost if pests reappear between scheduled treatments.
• Provision of a 12-month work schedule, pest control certificates, and adherence to safety and environmental standards.

Technical Requirements

The technical scope includes:

• Use of qualified, registered, and licensed pest control professionals with membership in S.A. Pest Control.
• Application of approved chemicals and pesticides in accordance with SABS, Department of Agriculture, and Environmental Health standards, including MSDS documentation.
• Internal and external spraying, baiting, and gel treatment in all designated areas, including built-in cupboards, sewerage, storm water manholes, and other specified sites.
• Replacement and servicing of bait stations monthly, with replenishment of bait as needed.
• Provision of all necessary tools, PPE, and equipment by the contractor.
• Adherence to occupational health and safety regulations during service delivery.
• Preparation of a detailed 12-month work schedule and monthly service plan in coordination with facility management.

Skills Requirements

The contractor must demonstrate:

• Competence and certification in pest control operations, including handling of pesticides and chemicals.
• Ability to develop and implement a comprehensive pest control work schedule.
• Knowledge of environmental health standards and safety protocols.
• Capacity to respond promptly to re-infestation and emergency pest control requests.
• Experience in managing pest control services within healthcare or similar institutional environments.
• Provision of MSDS for all chemicals used and compliance with relevant legislation such as the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
