Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure plumbing repair services in various areas of Wentworth Hospital, KwaZulu-Natal. The work involves repairing burst pipes, replacing faulty fittings, and ensuring the proper functioning of plumbing systems across multiple hospital departments and facilities.

Scope

The scope includes:

• Repair of burst and leaking pipes in designated hospital areas such as the Nurses Home, A/E, Gateway Clinic, Staff Office Toilets, and other specified locations.
• Removal of paving, excavation, and replacement of pipes with matching fittings and materials.
• Replacement of valves, cisterns, and damaged plumbing fixtures in toilets and washbasins.
• Installation of new plumbing fixtures, including concrete bowls and wall-mounted taps.
• Work to be performed once-off, with all labor, consumables, tools, and transportation included.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify:

• Removal of paving bricks and excavation of underground pipes (25mm to 54mm diameter).
• Replacement of brass gate valves, PVC pipes, and fittings with matching specifications.
• Repair and replacement of cisterns, taps, and flexible waste connectors in toilets.
• Ensuring all plumbing work is carried out by qualified plumbing artisans.
• Adherence to detailed specifications provided, including pipe sizes, materials, and installation standards.
• Completion of work within the stipulated contract period, with quality standards and safety compliance.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must possess:

• Proven experience in plumbing repairs within healthcare or similar facilities.
• Valid CIDB registration with a rating of 1EP or 1EB.
• Certification or proof of qualification for plumbing work.
• Ability to demonstrate previous similar projects completed successfully.
• Qualified plumbing artisans to perform all repair and installation tasks.
• Knowledge of health and safety standards applicable to hospital environments.
