Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to solicit qualified contractors to repair and restore the collapsed main sewage line at Pollsmoor Prison, inside the tunnel, ensuring proper sanitation and infrastructure functionality in compliance with relevant standards and regulations.

Scope

The scope of work includes excavation, removal and reinstatement of defective sewage pipes, installation of appropriate piping (galvanized, UPVC, PVC), clearing stormwater drainage systems, and related activities within the tunnel area. The work encompasses both scheduled and non-schedule tasks, including site inspections, safety measures, and compliance with contractual and legislative requirements.

Technical Requirements

• Excavation and backfilling of trenches for pipe replacement, with specific depth and measurement criteria.
• Installation of high-pressure pipes (galvanized, UPVC, PVC) of specified diameters.
• Clearing and maintenance of underground drainage and stormwater systems.
• Use of certified materials conforming to SANS standards.
• Provision of safety and security measures, including security clearance and site access protocols.
• Adherence to environmental and safety regulations, including waste removal and site cleanliness.
• Provision of detailed work schedules, progress reports, and compliance documentation.

Skills Requirements

• Qualified civil and plumbing engineers with experience in sewerage infrastructure repair.
• Skilled excavation and pipe installation personnel familiar with trenching, shoring, and dewatering techniques.
• Certified safety officers to oversee health and safety compliance on site.
• Knowledge of relevant standards (SANS) and legislative requirements related to public infrastructure and safety.
• Proficiency in project management, reporting, and documentation to ensure timely completion and compliance.
• Ability to coordinate with security and site management personnel for site access and security clearance.
