Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure services for pressure cleaning of sewer pipes and manholes at Charles Johnson Memorial Hospital (CJM Hospital). The scope includes unblocking pipes, removing roots and debris, pressure cleaning, and documenting the condition of sewer infrastructure before and after cleaning using camera/jetting equipment. The aim is to ensure the sewer system is maintained in optimal condition, prevent blockages, and document the state of the infrastructure.

Scope

The scope of work encompasses:

• Unblocking all sewer pipes and manholes and disposing of waste at an approved dump site.
• Removing roots and debris inside sewer pipes and manholes.
• Pressure cleaning sewer pipes and manholes using jetting equipment.
• Taking before and after pictures with camera/pipe jetting camera and submitting detailed reports on pipe conditions.
• Replacing missing manhole covers (450mm x 600mm).
• Removing fats from fat traps using chemical removers at the main kitchen.
• Building three lines on staff house, staff flats, and SCM manholes (450mm x 600mm).

The work must be completed within a contract period of four weeks from site handover, ensuring minimal disruption to hospital operations.

Technical Requirements

• Use of specific tools and machinery including high-pressure jetting trucks and jetting cameras.
• Compliance with all relevant standards, including the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) and Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
• Provision of photographic documentation before and after cleaning.
• Submission of detailed reports on pipe conditions post-cleaning.
• Ownership or proof of ownership of required machinery and tools.
• Adherence to the specified schedule, including site inspections and briefing sessions.
• Provision of all materials, equipment, and labor necessary for complete execution of the cleaning process.

Skills Requirements

• Experience in sewer cleaning and maintenance, specifically pressure jetting.
• Qualified operators for high-pressure jetting trucks and pipe jetting cameras, with proof of relevant CIDB grading (minimum 2SO).
• Artisan plumber trade certification (diploma) is compulsory.
• Ability to document and report on sewer system conditions accurately.
• Knowledge of health and safety standards applicable to hospital environments.
• Capacity to coordinate work without disrupting hospital operations and ensuring site safety and cleanliness.
