Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to develop and implement an infrastructure project for Point of Care at NHLS Bara, Gauteng Region. The project aims to enhance healthcare delivery by establishing suitable infrastructure, including facilities, equipment, and systems, to support point-of-care testing and related services.

Scope

The scope of work encompasses a comprehensive infrastructure development, including:

• Site preparation and civil works
• Construction and installation of buildings, partitions, and ceilings
• Electrical and plumbing installations
• Provision of laboratory and clinical equipment
• Interior finishes, painting, tiling, and joinery
• Installation of glazing, doors, and security features
• Provision of HVAC systems, including air conditioning units
• Provision of blinds, flooring, and wall linings
• Compliance with safety, health, and environmental standards

The project also includes procurement, installation, testing, and commissioning of all necessary systems and equipment to ensure functional and operational readiness.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify that all work must adhere to:

• Relevant South African standards (SABS) and legislation
• Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) registration at grade 1GB or higher
• Use of approved materials, fixtures, and fittings
• Proper electrical wiring, plumbing, and HVAC installation by qualified personnel
• Application of appropriate finishes, including painting, tiling, and joinery
• Installation of safety and security features, including glazing and doors
• Compliance with occupational health and safety regulations
• Environmental considerations and minimal disruption to existing hospital operations

All works must be completed to the specified standards, with proper testing, inspection, and certification prior to handover.

Skills Requirements

The tender mandates that the contractor and key personnel possess the following skills and qualifications:

• Registered professional engineers, architects, and technicians
• Qualified project managers with relevant experience in healthcare infrastructure projects
• Skilled tradespeople including electricians, plumbers, carpenters, and HVAC technicians with valid trade certificates
• Experience in civil works, including site preparation and civil construction
• Competence in installation of laboratory and medical equipment
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations and standards
• Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams and manage project timelines effectively
• Proven track record in similar healthcare infrastructure projects within South Africa

All personnel involved must demonstrate adequate training, experience, and certification relevant to their roles to ensure quality and compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
