Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a qualified service provider to perform as-and-when maintenance and repair works on the floating jetty system at the Port of Mossel Bay. The goal is to ensure continuous, safe, and reliable operation of the jetty system by maintaining its structural integrity, safety standards, and operational functionality throughout the contract period.

Scope of the Services

The scope includes:

• Provision of maintenance and repair services for the floating jetty system, including structural steel components, fenders, rollers, pontoon units, and associated infrastructure.
• Performing inspections, surface preparations, bolt replacements, welding repairs, and repainting to prevent corrosion and deterioration.
• Design and submission of repair solutions where necessary, ensuring compliance with marine standards.
• Provision of all labour, materials, consumables, and equipment required for maintenance activities.
• Coordination of works to minimize disruption to port operations and marina activities.
• Adherence to safety, environmental, and port security regulations during execution.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Compliance with relevant standards such as SANS, ISO, and BS EN for coatings, welding, and structural integrity.
• Use of materials that conform to original specifications or Employer-approved equivalents.
• Design of repair solutions by qualified professionals, with approval from the Employer’s representative.
• Provision of suitable access equipment (e.g., workboats, scaffolding, floating platforms) for works over water.
• Implementation of environmental protection measures to prevent marine pollution.
• Inspection, testing, and documentation of completed works, including defect rectification as required.
• Coordination with port authorities for safe access and operational safety compliance.

Skills and Competency Requirements

The tenderer must demonstrate:

• Active CIDB Grade 3CE registration and proof thereof.
• Experience in marine and structural steel maintenance, preferably in port or jetty environments.
• Qualified personnel including engineers, welders, and safety officers with relevant certifications.
• Capability to design, plan, and execute marine structural repairs and maintenance.
• Knowledge of environmental and safety regulations applicable to port and marine operations.
• Ability to provide all necessary equipment, materials, and skilled labour for the scope of work.
• Proven track record of delivering similar maintenance services within port or marine settings.
