The primary objective of this tender is to procure load testing services for lifting equipment at the East London Multi-Purpose Terminal (EL MPT). The aim is to ensure that all lifting equipment is tested in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act and Transnet’s Code of Practice 29 (COP 29), thereby maintaining operational efficiency and safety standards.
The scope of work involves providing load testing services for various lifting equipment used across EL MPT’s operational areas, including the Combi Terminal, Grain Elevator, and Car Terminal. The contractor must ensure all equipment listed in Addendum A is load tested according to legal and manufacturer specifications. The testing must adhere to the stricter requirements between the OHS Act, COP 29, and OEM specifications, with OEM requirements to be communicated to the Technical Manager if less stringent.
Additionally, the contractor is responsible for immediate notification of safety-critical defects during testing and completing log sheets within two days of examination.
Additional skills include the ability to perform load testing within tight turnaround times (within two days of receiving the purchase order) and the capacity to handle various types of lifting equipment as listed in the annexure.

Most large tenders are composed of tasks in a number of different fields, and it is not always possible for a single company to cater for all of them, and therefore Joint Ventures and Consortia are formed to then submit a tender together.
Government tenders are also requiring the subcontracting of a percentage of the tender work, and the trouble is then finding Subcontractors to comply with the tender requirements
To assist companies with finding tender partners and subcontractors, you can now submit your contact details and company information on this page, so other interested parties can contact you for purposes of forming Joint Ventures and subcontracting
