Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure pest control services at Montebello Hospital and associated clinics to eliminate pests and protect human health. The service aims to ensure a pest-free environment, prevent re-infestation, and comply with relevant standards and regulations.

Scope

The scope includes providing comprehensive pest control services across Montebello Hospital and five clinics (Gateway, Esidumbini, Chibini, and Kwanyuswa). The services cover eradication and control of pests such as rats, mice, cockroaches, bird lice, ants, moth larvae, and fish moths. The contract excludes termite (white ants) and bee eradication unless separately quoted. The service involves scheduled treatments, re-infestation responses, and adherence to specified procedures and standards.

Technical Requirements

• Provision of valid registration certificate issued by the Department of Agriculture (Act 36 of 1947).
• Submission of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for all chemicals used, with proof of SABS approval.
• Scheduled pest control treatments every four weeks, with immediate re-service at no cost in case of re-infestation.
• Prior arrangement of service dates at least seven days in advance.
• Sign-in and sign-out procedures at the institution’s maintenance office on each visit.
• Provision of after-service reports or certificates signed and stamped by the service provider.
• Use of trained, competent personnel handling insecticides and pesticides in accordance with occupational health and safety standards.
• Application of chemicals in all designated areas, including treatment of built-in cupboards, sewerage manholes, water pipes, and other specified locations.
• Adherence to specified treatment procedures, safety standards, and reporting requirements.

Skills Requirements

• Qualified pest control technicians with certification from the Department of Agriculture.
• Knowledge of SABS standards and occupational health and safety regulations.
• Ability to prepare and handle chemicals safely, including SDS compliance.
• Competence in executing scheduled treatments and responding promptly to re-infestations.
• Capability to produce detailed reports and certificates post-service.
• Effective communication skills for prior arrangement of service dates and reporting.
