Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure services for primary processing and appearance grade extraction at Timbadola Saw Mill for a period of one month. The service aims to support SAFCOL's operational needs in sawmilling and forestry, ensuring efficient processing and quality grading of timber products.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Provision of primary processing services at Timbadola Saw Mill.
• Appearance grade extraction of timber.
• Services to be delivered at the Wetmill and VAP departments.
• Employment and management of personnel across various shifts, including wetmill, boilers, and general workers.
• Compliance with safety standards, employment laws, and SAFCOL’s operational protocols.
• Provision of PPE and adherence to safety and operational standards.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Experience in managing sawmilling, forestry, or agriculture contracts, supported by reference letters.
• Provision of trained personnel for specified shifts, including roles such as waste recovery, separator, chipper & screen operators, boiler feeders, lubricators, general workers, saw operators, and cross-cut operators.
• Employment of personnel in line with the Basic Conditions of Employment and Labour Relations Act, including UIF and Workman's Compensation registration.
• Provision and weekly evaluation of PPE (safety boots, overhauls, safety hats).
• Compliance with safety standards, operational protocols, and reporting requirements.
• Ability to provide human resources as needed, including substitutes for absenteeism.

Skills Requirements

The skills required for service providers include:

• Experience in sawmill operations and forestry processing.
• Capability to manage industrial relations issues, including discipline and wage negotiations.
• Trained and competent personnel for specific operational roles.
• Knowledge of safety protocols and PPE management.
• Ability to coordinate shift operations effectively, including 24/7 boiler operation.
• Administrative skills for compliance documentation, reporting, and evaluation.
• Experience in managing employment in accordance with legal standards and safety regulations.
