Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a service provider to supply Ward Hostess and Portering services at Ladysmith Hospital for a period of two months. The services include providing personnel to assist with patient care, food service, transportation, and related duties within the hospital environment.

Scope

The scope encompasses the provision of:

• 12 Ward Hostesses responsible for serving food, assisting patients, and maintaining hygiene in wards and kitchens.
• 6 Porters to facilitate patient movement, transportation of medical equipment, specimens, and other logistical support within the hospital.
• Supervision and management of staff shifts, including day and night duties, in various wards and departments.
• Adherence to hospital policies, safety standards, and infection control protocols.

The services are to be delivered over a two-month contractual period, covering multiple wards and areas within Ladysmith Regional Hospital.

Technical Requirements

• Compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Regulations.
• Provision of qualified personnel with relevant experience, including at least 1 year in food services for supervisors.
• Personnel must possess good communication skills, physical fitness, and the ability to act calmly in emergencies.
• Supervisors must have a matric senior certificate, with proof of experience and good communication skills.
• Staff must be dressed in specified uniforms, including safety shoes, branded t-shirts, and name tags.
• Personnel must adhere to hospital hygiene, infection prevention, and confidentiality standards.
• Provision of necessary equipment and uniforms as specified in the tender documentation.
• Compliance with minimum wage rates and fair remuneration as per Department of Labour.

Skills Requirements

• Good interpersonal and communication skills for dealing with hospital staff, patients, and visitors.
• Ability to work in shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
• Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and efficiently.
