Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to obtain quotations from suitable service providers for the repair of the roof structure and the replacement of thatch with roof sheets at the Uilenkraalsmond resort entrance.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Removal of the existing thatch roof structure and disposal of materials.
• Construction of a new roof structure using specified materials such as Big Six Fibre Cement (Nutec) Corrugated Roof Sheets or approved equivalents.
• Installation of weatherproof joints, overlaps, and fasteners, with sealing to ensure watertightness.
• Installation of fascia boards along all eaves and gable ends, treated and painted with Duram Roofcote (Green).
• Installation of continuous gutters and downpipes, ensuring proper water discharge into stormwater systems.
• Replacement of all purlins with pressure-treated timber, ensuring correct spacing and secure fixing.
• Inspection and replacement of damaged or rusted bracing straps with galvanized straps.
• Ensuring structural integrity, proper alignment, waterproofing, and ventilation according to SABS standards.
• Painting of roof sheets and fascia boards with specified weatherproof coatings.
• Supply and installation of gutters and downpipes of approved materials.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify:

• Use of approved roofing materials meeting SABS standards.
• Proper alignment, secure fixing, and weatherproof sealing of all roofing components.
• Installation of fascia boards treated and painted with Duram Roofcote (Green).
• Installation of gutters and downpipes with correct falls and sealing.
• Construction of the roof structure in accordance with SABS standards, including replacement of purlins and bracing straps.
• Compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations, including OHSACT and SABS standards.
• Ensuring durability, waterproofing, and proper ventilation of the roof structure.
• Adherence to project timelines, with a maximum of two weeks for roof upgrade activities.

Skills Requirements

The successful service provider must demonstrate:

• Proven experience in roof construction, repair, and maintenance, supported by relevant references and experience certificates.
• Competence in handling roofing materials, structural timber, and waterproofing systems.
• Ability to execute the project in accordance with SABS standards and health and safety regulations.
• Qualified personnel with appropriate certifications and competencies in roofing and construction works.
• Capacity to manage project timelines, site safety, and environmental considerations effectively.
• Proof of valid CIDB registration with a minimum 1GB grading.
