Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure the supply of Radiuscope and Optometry equipment to support optometry services at McCord Provincial Eye Hospital. The aim is to acquire equipment that meets specified technical standards, ensuring accurate measurements for contact lens fitting and related optometric assessments.

Scope

The scope encompasses the supply of Radiuscope and Optometry devices, including optional accessories, to the Department of Health at McCord Provincial Eye Hospital. The procurement covers new, compliant equipment supported by necessary documentation, manuals, and training, with a contract period of once-off delivery and installation.

Technical Requirements

• The Radiuscope must accurately measure the radius of curvature of the anterior and posterior surfaces of rigid contact lenses.
• The system must incorporate the latest technology, be user-friendly, and robustly constructed.
• The equipment must measure convex radius for front toric and bitoric lenses.
• The system should measure peripheral curve radius, lens power, prism, and include a gauge for determining lens thickness.
• All equipment must comply with the specifications outlined in the Department of Health’s technical standards, including CE approval or Radiation Control licensing where applicable.
• Suppliers must provide descriptive literature, brochures, and technical data sheets supporting compliance.
• Optional accessories should be listed with prices, and the equipment must be supported with manuals, training, and warranty services.

Skills Requirements

• The bidder must demonstrate the capacity to supply equipment supported by original manufacturer trained technicians.
• Proof of manufacturer certification and authorized dealership must be provided.
• The bidder must have a well-established service and repair facility within KwaZulu-Natal, including qualified technicians based locally.
• Technical staff must be capable of providing installation, calibration, maintenance, and repair services, including training end-users and technical staff.
• Demonstration of the equipment may be required for evaluation, with costs borne by the bidder.
• The bidder should provide detailed technical documentation, manuals, and support services to ensure ongoing operational capability.
