Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to solicit quotations for the maintenance and repair of a security gate at NHLS Tygerberg Cytology Laboratory. The aim is to ensure the security gate functions properly, meets safety standards, and remains operational to support the laboratory's security requirements.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Maintenance and repair of the existing security gate at NHLS Tygerberg Cytology Laboratory.
• Inspection of the gate to identify faults or damages.
• Replacement or repair of faulty components.
• Testing the gate to ensure proper operation post-repair.
• Providing necessary documentation, certificates, and compliance with safety standards.
• Carrying out work in phases, coordinating with hospital management to minimize operational disruptions.
• Adhering to safety, health, and environmental regulations during the execution of work.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify that:

• The bidder must have CIDB registration in grading designation 1ME/EC or higher.
• The bidder must possess relevant trade qualifications and experience, including trade test certificates in electrical and plumbing disciplines.
• The bidder must submit a comprehensive project execution plan detailing methodology, stakeholder engagement, and timelines.
• The work must comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, 1993, and relevant standards (SANS, ISO).
• The repair work should include inspection, component replacement, testing, and certification.
• All work must be completed within the specified timeframes, with provisions for delays and emergencies.
• The contractor must provide a guarantee and maintenance period of 12 months post-completion.

Skills Requirements

The skills and qualifications required from bidders include:

• Registered and experienced electrical and plumbing tradespersons with valid trade test certificates.
• Project managers and supervisors with at least five years of relevant experience in similar projects.
• Ability to prepare and submit detailed project plans, safety documentation, and compliance certificates.
• Proven track record of executing maintenance and repair works in healthcare or similar sensitive environments.
• Capacity to coordinate with hospital management and adhere to operational schedules.
