Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure services for the removal of water and oil inside the lift pit of Otis lifts at GJ Crookes Hospital, ensuring the lift pit is free from excess water and oil, and meets safety and environmental standards.

Scope

The scope includes:

• Removal of water and oil from inside the Otis lift pit.
• Disposal of water and oil at licensed hazardous waste facilities.
• Cleaning and ensuring no oil leaks remain on the floor and passages.
• Compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Provision of all necessary equipment, transportation, safety measures, and documentation as specified.

Technical Requirements

• Disposal of water and oil in accordance with environmental standards, including use of approved dumping sites.
• Cleaning of the area with detergents after removal.
• Use of vehicles clearly marked as “Hazardous Waste” with appropriate labels (e.g., UN 3082 for used oil).
• Provision of spill kits, fire extinguishers, absorbent materials, and PPE for safety.
• Preparation of a method statement detailing the removal process.
• Submission of waste disposal certificates and proof of compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Adherence to all relevant environmental, health, and safety legislation, including the OHS Act and COIDA requirements.

Skills Requirements

• Experience in hazardous waste removal, especially oil spill and water removal in confined spaces like lift pits.
• Knowledge of environmental regulations and waste disposal procedures.
• Competence in health and safety management, including risk assessments and emergency response planning.
• Ability to prepare and implement method statements and safety plans.
• Capability to provide necessary documentation such as disposal certificates and safety compliance certificates.
• Qualified personnel with appropriate training in PPE usage, spill response, and hazardous waste handling.
