Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to remove and replace doors and windows at KwaMagwaza Hospital, specifically in the Operating Theatre (OT), Outpatient Department (OPD), and wards. The aim is to enhance safety and security within the facility by ensuring that damaged or outdated doors and windows are properly replaced with compliant and durable materials.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Providing competent personnel to perform all duties as per the Bill of Quantities (BOQ).
• Supplying and delivering all required materials and tools for the maintenance project.
• Removing old doors and window frames, preparing the areas, and making good the surfaces.
• Fitting new solid core timber doors and aluminium window frames with panes, including all associated hardware such as locks, handles, and cladding.
• Completing the work within three (3) weeks from the date of order issuance.
• Ensuring minimal disruption to hospital operations during the works.
• Complying with safety standards and statutory obligations, including inspections and certificates.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications include:

• All doors shall be solid core timber, with specified sizes and safety glazing panels where applicable.
• Doors must include stainless steel kick and push plates, handles, locks, and other hardware as detailed.
• All door frames to be 1.6mm thick with mitred corners and seam welded, with internal stiffeners.
• Aluminium window frames to be fitted with panes supplied by the hospital, plastered, and painted internally.
• Work to conform to SANS 1200 (SABS 1200) standards and Occupational Health and Safety Act requirements.
• All materials and workmanship must meet the specified quality standards and be compliant with relevant regulations.

Skills Requirements

The contractor must ensure:

• Availability of skilled carpenters with trade test certificates in carpentry.
• Experience in installing timber doors, aluminium window frames, and related hardware.
• Ability to coordinate inspections, obtain certificates, and ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Provision of competent personnel capable of executing the scope of work within the stipulated timeframe.
• Adherence to safety protocols and statutory obligations throughout the project duration.
