Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to carry out the renovation of the Medical Library at Wentworth Hospital, KwaZulu-Natal. The project aims to improve the facility's infrastructure, including roof, ceiling, windows, doors, floors, walls, electrical, and HVAC systems, ensuring the library meets the required standards and is fit for purpose.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Supply, delivery, installation, and testing of all materials necessary for the renovation.
• Roof and ceiling repairs, including vegetation removal, leak repairs, and ceiling panel replacements.
• Window cleaning, repairs, painting, and installation of reflective films and tinting.
• Replacement of external doors with aluminium doors, painting internal doors, and installing door closers.
• Floor and wall cleaning, reconditioning, repairs, and painting.
• Electrical system inspection, repairs, lighting replacement with LED panels, and installation of air conditioning units.
• Adherence to safety, health, and environmental standards throughout the project.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify that:

• All work must comply with the National Building Regulations, SABS standards, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and relevant departmental specifications.
• Roof repairs must include vegetation removal and leak repairs; ceiling panels must be replaced where necessary.
• Windows must be cleaned, repaired, painted, tinted, and fitted with reflective films and fittings replaced as needed.
• External doors must be aluminium with specific lock types; internal doors to be painted and fitted with heavy-duty closers.
• Electrical systems to be inspected, repaired, and upgraded with LED lighting and air conditioning units installed with control panels and isolators.
• All work must be completed within a four-week period from site handover.

Skills Requirements

The tenderer must demonstrate:

• cidb contractor grading of 1GB or higher.
• Capability to undertake building renovations, including roofing, carpentry, electrical, and HVAC work.
• Experience in similar hospital or institutional renovations, evidenced by proof of completed work and relevant certifications.
• Compliance with health and safety regulations, including the submission of a comprehensive safety plan and relevant certificates.
• Ability to provide qualified personnel, such as trade-tested artisans (electricians, plumbers, etc.), and a project leader with relevant trade certification.
• Provision of a detailed Bill of Quantities, project schedule, and adherence to departmental standards and specifications.
