Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to carry out renovations to Tshepong Laboratory, ensuring the upgrade and refurbishment of various facilities, including flooring, electrical, plumbing, cabinetry, and other infrastructural elements, to meet specified standards and operational requirements.

Scope

The scope of work encompasses:

• Removal and reinstallation of benches, cupboards, electrical wiring, sinks, and flooring.
• Installation of new vinyl and tile flooring, skirting, and coving.
• Refurbishment of walls, including crack repairs, painting, and surface preparation.
• Installation of new ceiling systems, drywall partitions, and doors (including glass doors).
• Electrical installations, including air conditioners, lighting, power outlets, and associated wiring.
• Plumbing works, including sinks, toilets, geysers, and associated piping.
• Provision and installation of cabinetry, shelving, lockers, signage, and other fixtures.
• Compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards throughout the project.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Adherence to specifications for flooring (vinyl, tiles, carpets), wall finishes, and ceiling systems.
• Use of approved materials such as SABS certified products, approved tile cement, grout, and paints.
• Installation of energy-efficient, inverter-type air conditioners with warranties and compliance with electrical standards.
• Provision of certified electrical and plumbing work by registered professionals.
• Implementation of safety measures, including signage, protective barriers, and compliance with SANS standards.
• Proper surface preparation, including crack repairs, surface cleaning, and priming, prior to finishing.
• Installation of fixtures such as lockers, signage, and laboratory furniture according to detailed specifications.
• Environmental and operational considerations, including phased work to minimize disruption.

Skills and Skills Requirements

The tender requires bidders to demonstrate:

• CIDB registration in at least 2GB grading or higher.
• Proven experience in laboratory or similar refurbishment projects within the last five years.
• Qualified and registered professionals, including electricians, plumbers, and project managers, with relevant certifications and licenses.
• Capability to manage complex renovation projects, including surface repairs, flooring, electrical, and plumbing works.
• Ability to coordinate with hospital operations, ensuring minimal disruption and adherence to safety standards.
• Provision of references and project completion certificates demonstrating successful delivery of similar projects.
• Compliance with health and safety legislation, including submission of OHS declarations and safety plans.
