Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to solicit quotations for the repair and renovation of toilets at the eThekwini Metro District Office, including various ablution facilities across multiple floors and wings. The aim is to ensure functional, hygienic, and compliant toilet facilities through comprehensive repairs and renovations, supporting health and sanitation standards.

Scope

The scope encompasses:

• Repair and renovation of toilets across different floors and sections (A Wing, B Wing, and others) within the eThekwini District Office.
• Replacement of toilet seats, cistern covers, tap handles, flushing mechanisms, PVC pipes, and other fixtures.
• Repair of leaks, unblockages, and damaged inlet/outlet pipes.
• Replacement of flushing mechanisms and urinary systems where needed.
• Reinstatement of plumbing and fixtures to ensure operational functionality.
• Adherence to specifications, site safety, and quality standards as per the Bill of Quantities and scope of work.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Compliance with the specifications detailed in the Bill of Quantities and scope of work.
• Use of approved and quality materials, fixtures, and fittings.
• Replacement of defective or damaged plumbing components such as pipes, flushing mechanisms, and toilet seats.
• Repair of leaks and unblockages in inlet and outlet pipes.
• Adherence to health and safety standards, including the use of PPE during site visits.
• Attendance at a compulsory site meeting scheduled for 25/02/2026 at Highway House.
• Completion of work within the specified contract period, with quality assurance and compliance checks.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must possess:

• Qualified plumbing and maintenance personnel with relevant experience in toilet repairs and renovations.
• CIDB registration with grades GB & SO or equivalent, indicating capability in plumbing and civil works.
• Knowledge of health and safety protocols, including PPE usage and site safety procedures.
• Ability to interpret technical specifications, BOQ, and site instructions.
• Experience in working within government or institutional facilities, ensuring minimal disruption and compliance with regulations.
• Provision of a Letter of Good Standing and relevant certifications as proof of capability and compliance.
