Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to repair damages caused by a storm at House No 17, 19, and 21 Pearce Crescent, Fairview, Empangeni. The project aims to restore the affected properties to their proper condition, ensuring safety, functionality, and compliance with relevant standards.

Scope

The scope of work includes, but is not limited to:

• Removal of existing floor tiles and preparation surfaces for new finishes
• Installation of new roof tiles, doors, fascia, barge boards, and ceilings
• Replacement of floor tiling and skirting
• Plumbing and drainage repairs and installations
• External works such as vegetation clearing, debris removal, and tree cutting
• Electrical tidying and compliance
• Construction of joinery and kitchen cupboards
• Painting of walls, ceilings, doors, and window frames
• Installation of waterproofing systems and external works

The work is to be carried out on three residential units within the specified properties, with attention to minimal disruption to ongoing operations.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Compliance with all relevant legislation such as the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Building Standards Act, and Construction Industry Development Board standards
• Use of new, unused, and certified materials, including SABS-approved products
• Installation in accordance with manufacturer instructions and standard practices
• Waterproofing tested via flood-test for 48-72 hours before handover
• Provision of warranties: 12 months for workmanship and materials, including guarantees for waterproofing systems
• Proper site management, safety, and environmental considerations
• Submission of a detailed work program prior to commencement

Skills Requirements

The tenderer must demonstrate:

• Proven experience in storm damage repairs and similar construction projects
• Valid CIDB grading of at least 2CE
• Registration and proof of registration with relevant bodies such as PIRB (Plumbing Industry Registration Board), NHBRC (National Home Builders' Registration Council), and Department of Labour for electrical contracting
• Qualified and competent personnel, including skilled artisans, plumbers, electricians, and site supervisors
• Ability to coordinate multiple trades and ensure adherence to technical specifications and safety standards
• Capacity to manage project timelines, quality control, and environmental health and safety requirements
