Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to repair the drainage system at Ngwelezana Hospital, specifically focusing on the rainwater drainage at the 192 Building. The work aims to ensure proper channeling of rainwater to storm drains, preventing leaks and damage to the infrastructure.

Scope

The scope includes:

• Identification and location of leak sources in the stormwater pipe system.
• Jetting the pipe, inspecting with a camera, and reporting findings.
• Sealing all leaks to ensure water-tightness.
• Repairing or replacing damaged pipe sections, slip joints, elbows, and tees to match existing pipes.
• Removing and replacing ceiling tiles as necessary.
• Applying specialized agents for quality management of existing pipework.
• Testing the repaired pipe to confirm leak resolution and restoring damaged areas.
• Supply and installation of all items, including cast iron and stainless steel components, with rates inclusive of transport, labor, tools, and profit.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications include:

• Use of cast iron and stainless steel materials for drainage components.
• Compliance with SANS quality standards.
• Proper sealing of leaks and replacement of damaged pipe sections with matching slip joints, elbows, and tees.
• Installation of over-cover cast iron grits secured with stainless steel bolts and nuts.
• Ensuring no leaks where full bore meets roof waterproofing.
• Testing to confirm leak resolution and restoring affected areas to their original state.
• Adherence to specified standards, safety, and site conditions, including no staff residing on site and only security personnel after hours.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must possess:

• Registration with the CIDB with a grading of 1SO.
• Registration with the Plumbing Industry Registration Board (PIRB) for responsible plumbers, including valid PIRB registration cards and trade test certificates.
• Company registration with IOPSA and proof of registration.
• Experience in stormwater pipe repair, leak detection, and pipe sealing.
• Ability to work continuously once started, ensuring timely completion of the work.
• Capability to provide a certificate of completion with appropriate documentation, including a signed letter from the client confirming work done and contract amount.
