Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure services for the repair of flooring at the Isolation Ward of Appelsbosch Hospital, ensuring the flooring is restored to a safe, reliable, and compliant standard to support patient safety and hospital operations.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Removing existing damaged flooring in the park home isolation unit.
• Repairing and replacing flooring components such as timber boards, vinyl, and associated fixtures.
• Installing new flooring materials in accordance with specifications.
• Ensuring proper sealing, finishing, and compliance with safety standards.
• Conducting testing and handover to ensure the flooring is in working condition.

The work must be carried out with minimal disruption to hospital operations and in accordance with relevant standards and regulations.

Technical Requirements

• Use of SABS approved materials and workmanship, CIDB grading GB.
• Adherence to specifications including dimensions (e.g., 18 x 35m area), materials (timber, vinyl, glue), and fixtures (doors awnings).
• Removal and disposal of damaged flooring components.
• Compliance with the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) and Occupational Health and Safety Act.
• Proper site safety measures, coordination with hospital authorities, and site inspection prior to commencement.
• Provision of all necessary documentation, including safety files, proof of qualifications, and previous project references.
• Completion within the specified contract period, with penalties for non-completion.

Skills Requirements

• Qualified carpenters with relevant CIDB GB grading.
• Experience in hospital or public service flooring repairs and installations.
• Ability to interpret technical specifications and drawings.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations and site safety protocols.
• Capability to coordinate with hospital staff and maintenance personnel.
• Proficiency in handling approved building materials and tools.
