Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure services for repairs and renovations to the main kitchen at Untunjambili Hospital, ensuring the facility meets required standards and specifications.

Scope

The scope includes comprehensive repairs and renovations to the main kitchen, which encompasses:

• Replacement of corroded roof sheeting with Kliplock roofing and painting
• Removal of existing asbestos fascia boards, rotten timber, and other damaged materials
• Installation of new treated timber purlins, gutters, downpipes, and roof accessories
• Electrical work including installation of lighting and circuits
• Painting, plastering, and finishing works on walls, ceilings, and timber components
• Disposal of old roofing materials and debris in certified disposal sites
• Other associated works as detailed in the specifications and itemized schedules

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify that:

• All materials and workmanship must conform to SABS standards and specifications
• Roof sheeting must be Kliplock 700 x 500 with special coating, fixed with appropriate brackets and secret fixings
• Timber used must be treated SA Pine, with proper bracing and fastening as per engineering design
• Electrical installations must be carried out by registered electricians with certification of compliance
• All work must adhere to safety standards, including scaffolding approval and site safety protocols
• Disposal of old materials must be certified and compliant with environmental regulations
• Painting and finishing works must follow manufacturer instructions and approved colour schemes

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must demonstrate:

• Competency in roofing, carpentry, electrical, and painting works, supported by relevant CIDB grading (minimum 2GB and 2EB)
• Experience in executing similar repair and renovation projects, with proof via letters of award and completion certificates for projects within the last 3 years
• Availability of qualified artisans, including registered electricians and carpenters
• Capacity to mobilize resources and complete the project within the specified contract period
• Provision of proof of registration with relevant authorities, such as the South African Electrical Contractors Board and the Department of Health
