Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to carry out repairs and renovations to the pharmacy at St Mary’s District Hospital, specifically to repair the pharmacy door and install a steel cage. Additionally, the scope includes converting a normal wooden door into a magnetic door with a door closer.

Scope

The scope of work encompasses:

• Supply and installation of a hot-dipped galvanized steel cage measuring approximately 2500mm x 5000mm with a height of 3200mm, matching existing cages, with all work performed at the workshop (no on-site welding).
• Conversion of a standard wooden door into a magnetic door, including the installation of a door closer.
• Additional site-specific tasks such as safety planning, site clearance, and ensuring minimal disruption to hospital operations during the work.

The work must be completed within four weeks from the date of site handover, with a minimum guarantee period of six months for all materials and workmanship.

Technical Requirements

• The steel cage must be galvanised, match existing cages, and be installed using industrial rawl bolts.
• The wooden door must be converted into a magnetic door with a functioning door closer.
• All materials and installation procedures must comply with relevant standards, including the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS), Occupational Health and Safety Act, and other applicable regulations.
• The installation must be carried out on-site at Mariannhill, ensuring minimal disruption and damage to existing structures.
• All work must be inspected and approved by the Department of Health.

Skills Requirements

• Proven experience in general building work, repairs, and maintenance within the past three years, supported by reference letters or completion certificates.
• Qualified technicians with trade test certification for relevant trades.
• Capability to fabricate and install galvanised steel structures, with skills in welding (though welding is performed off-site).
• Ability to convert doors into magnetic doors, requiring carpentry and door hardware expertise.
• Knowledge of health and safety standards, site safety planning, and minimal disruption procedures in a hospital environment.
