Technical Requirements

Bidders must demonstrate proven capability in industrial goods hoist maintenance and repair. Execution will require adherence to South African occupational health and safety legislation, relevant SANS standards for lifting and material handling equipment, and Transnet’s internal maintenance protocols. All repaired units must undergo functional testing, load verification, and formal certification before handover. Electronic pricing and bid submission via Transnet’s dedicated procurement portal is mandatory; paper-based submissions will be automatically disqualified.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must deploy suitably qualified personnel, including certified electricians, mechanical fitters, and hoist specialists with documented experience in freight-handling equipment. Technicians must hold recognised trade certificates, current health and safety training, and familiarity with Transnet’s operational environments. Strong project coordination skills are essential to manage site access, minimise operational downtime, and deliver repairs within agreed timeframes.

• e-Tender Submission Portal: A mandatory digital procurement platform replacing traditional paper bids. Suppliers must register a corporate profile, formally log an intent to bid, and upload all pricing and supporting documents electronically. • DPIP/FPPO Disclosure: Suppliers must declare any commercial, familial, or financial ties to Domestic Prominent Influential Persons or Foreign Prominent Public Officials. This transparency measure prevents conflicts of interest and aligns with public sector governance requirements.
