Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to solicit quotations for the repair and refurbishment of built-in furniture and associated works at OPD (Outpatient Department) facilities of St Marys Marianhill Hospital. The work aims to restore, upgrade, and maintain the functionality and aesthetics of the OPD built-ins, ensuring compliance with departmental standards and specifications.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Removal of existing damaged or outdated built-in furniture and fixtures in the OPD.
• Supply and installation of new shelving, cupboards, doors, and drawers as specified.
• Repair of existing drawers, cupboards, and shelving units.
• Chasing floors and installing sleeve steel pipes for cabling, including concrete covering.
• Protection of existing work during construction and making good all damages caused during the works.
• Cleaning and clearing of redundant materials from the site.

The work is to be carried out in accordance with the attached specifications, drawings, and standards, within the stipulated contract period of thirty days from order.

Technical Requirements

• All work must be performed by qualified artisans with relevant trade tests and proven experience.
• Materials used must be of the highest quality, preferably SABS marked, and compliant with relevant standards.
• All repairs and installations must meet the specifications outlined in the attached Annexure A and drawings.
• Work must be executed in a manner that minimizes damage to existing property, with proper protection and making good of any damages.
• All rubble and redundant materials must be removed from site daily.
• Work must adhere to health and safety standards, including the preparation of safety plans.
• Site access must be coordinated with hospital occupants, and work must be scheduled to minimize disruption.

Skills Requirements

• Qualified artisans with trade test certification in carpentry, joinery, and related trades.
• Experience in hospital or healthcare facility refurbishments.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately.
• Capability to execute carpentry, installation, and repair works to a high standard.
• Competence in site safety management and coordination with hospital staff.
