Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure services for the repairs to the male and female ward seclusion rooms at Catherine Booth Hospital. This includes restoring damaged facilities such as lights, toilets, fire alarms, CCTV systems, and flooring, ensuring the wards are safe, functional, and compliant with standards. The project aims to enhance patient safety and staff working conditions by renovating and maintaining the seclusion rooms within a specified timeframe.

Scope

The scope encompasses:

• Inspection and reporting prior to commencement of work.
• Repair and renovation of seclusion ward facilities, including electrical, plumbing, fire alarm, CCTV, and flooring systems.
• Replacement of fixtures such as stainless steel toilet and washbasin units.
• Supply of materials, equipment, and labor necessary for the repairs.
• Guarantee of installed and repaired items (12 months for installed equipment, 6 months for repairs).
• Adherence to safety, environmental, and regulatory standards throughout the project.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications include:

• Repairs to electrical systems, including tamperproof lighting and switches.
• Repair of fire alarm sensors and CCTV systems, connecting to security control rooms.
• Replacement of PVC beds with secure, restraint-type beds.
• Preparation and welding of vinyl flooring and skirting in the wards.
• Use of stainless steel fixtures compliant with SABS standards (e.g., Franke HDTX850 units).
• Materials must be new, of high quality, and supported by manufacturer guarantees.
• All work must comply with relevant standards such as SANS 0142, SANS 10400, and SANS 10252-1&2.
• Work must be coordinated with hospital maintenance and safety protocols.

Skills Requirements

The contractor must possess:

• Qualified and certified artisans and technicians with relevant trade and technical qualifications.
• Proof of registration with the Department of Labour, including SAQCC certification for relevant trades.
• CIDB registration with appropriate grading for service and repair works.
• Experience in hospital repairs, electrical, plumbing, fire safety, and flooring works.
• Ability to provide comprehensive operation and maintenance manuals.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations, including OHS Act 85 of 1993, and adherence to all national building and safety standards.
• Capacity to supply and manage unskilled labor for appropriate tasks, with local labor engagement encouraged.
