Objectives

The primary objective is to replace a faulty motor and gearbox on a shuttle conveyor hoist at the Regional Laundry Cato Manor. This intervention aims to restore full operational capacity to the facility's linen handling system, specifically enabling reliable loading of linen into industrial tumble dryers.

Scope of Work

This is a once-off mechanical and electrical maintenance contract requiring on-site supply, installation, and adjustment of conveyor components. Key deliverables include:

• Supply and installation of a new Demag-type motor and gearbox (specifications: 1.6/0.9A, 0.26kW, 2550r/min).
• Fabrication of one trolley bracket.
• Replacement of eight guide wheels and six bearings.
• Removal, straightening, and realignment of an 18.3-metre bottom guide rail system to properly accommodate the top rail.
• Modification of eleven brackets by bending them back to ninety-degree angles.

All delivery costs must be included in the quoted price. Pricing must remain firm for the duration of the contract, which carries a ninety-day validity period upon submission.

Technical Requirements

• Contractor Grading: Minimum CIDB grading of 1ME or higher.
• Certification: Valid trade test certificate in Mechanical or Electrical engineering.
• Experience: Documentary proof of one prior order or award letter and a corresponding completion certificate for similar work executed within the last two years.
• Product Standards: All supplied items must be brand new, unused, and compliant with applicable SANS/SABS standards. Second-hand, refurbished, or expired products are strictly prohibited.
• Compliance & Security: Active registration on the Central Suppliers Database (CSD) and valid tax clearance status are mandatory. The successful bidder may be required to provide performance security within thirty days of contract award.
• Warranty: Twelve months from delivery/acceptance or eighteen months from shipment, whichever concludes first.

Skills Requirements

• Certified trade-tested practitioners in mechanical or electrical disciplines.
• Proven expertise in industrial conveyor overhaul, motor/gearbox integration, and precision rail alignment.
• Competence in sheet metal fabrication, bracket modification, and bearing/wheel replacement within active laundry environments.
• Ability to interpret technical schematics and execute structural adjustments while adhering to occupational health and safety protocols.

Full points for the transformation category are exclusively awarded to enterprises owned entirely by Black Africans.
