Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to solicit quotations for the renovation of the building facade at the CSIR Pretoria, Scientia Campus. The aim is to enhance the aesthetic appeal, safety, and durability of the building's exterior through comprehensive refurbishment works.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Cleaning and priming exterior columns, beams, and other structural elements.
• Repainting of exterior columns, beams, steel elements, parapet walls, and parameter railings with specified high-quality paints.
• Repairing and repainting window frames, sills, and glass surfaces, including removal and reapplication of window tint.
• Repainting of external fixtures such as air louvers, electrical fittings, air-conditioning brackets, and main entrance steel elements.
• Supply, installation, and certification of scaffolding for high access areas.
• Reinstallation of burglar bars and provision of safety files.
• Preparation of a health and safety file and compliance documentation.

All glazing work must be performed by qualified glazing service providers, with appropriate documentation prior to commencement.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications include:

• Use of high-quality exterior paints such as Satin Houri Grey (Code: Y4-E2-E2) or equivalent.
• Application of reflective one-way silver window tint (88% glare rejection).
• Cleaning, repair, and repainting of window frames, sills, and glass surfaces.
• Repainting of steel elements, parapet walls, railings, and external fixtures with specified enamel paints.
• Supply and installation of scaffolding with certification.
• Provision of safety and health compliance documentation, including a safety file.

Materials must meet specified standards and standards such as ExCo1/ExRo1, ExCo2/ExR03, and other relevant standards.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must demonstrate:

• Proven experience in exterior building refurbishment, including painting, glazing, and façade repairs.
• Qualified glazing service providers for all glazing-related work.
• Capability to supply, install, and certify scaffolding for high-access areas.
• Compliance with health and safety regulations, including maintaining and submitting a comprehensive safety file.
• Ability to provide valid CIDB registration with a grading of 2GB or higher, or demonstrate capability to attain such registration prior to contract commencement.
• Provision of references and proof of previous similar projects completed within the last five years.
• Capacity to supply all materials required for the scope of work.
