Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure services for a one-time bathroom renovation at Building 17W, CSIR Scientia Campus, Pretoria. The aim is to upgrade and refurbish the specified bathroom facilities in accordance with the detailed scope of work, ensuring quality finishes and compliance with relevant standards.

Scope

The scope of work includes, but is not limited to:

• Construction of drywall partitions and closing existing door openings.
• Preparation and installation of wall and floor tiles using specified porcelain tiles.
• Supply and installation of mosaic tiles, mirrors, PVC edgings, and boxing in exposed service pipes.
• Replacement of ceiling trap doors and installation of new fixtures such as shower arms, shower heads, and door locks.
• Painting of internal doors, walls, ceilings, and window frames with specified paints.
• Varnishing external doors and rubble removal post-completion.
• Provision of safety files and adherence to safety standards during execution.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify that:

• All tiling must comply with SANS 1449/13006 standards, including full-bodied double pressed porcelain tiles.
• All fixtures and fittings must be installed according to manufacturer specifications and relevant building codes.
• Surface preparation, including sanding, priming, and finishing, must be carried out to achieve defect-free, uniform surfaces.
• All electrical and plumbing work must be performed by qualified personnel, with fixtures such as shower heads and locks installed securely.
• Painting must use specified products (e.g., Plascon, Onyx) and include preparation and finishing to a high standard.
• All work must be completed within the specified scope, timeframe, and address, with safety and quality assurance measures in place.

Skills Requirements

The bidder must demonstrate:

• Proven experience in bathroom renovations, including tiling, painting, and fixture installation.
• Capability to interpret and execute scope of work as per technical specifications and drawings.
• Qualified personnel with relevant trade certifications (e.g., tilers, painters, plumbers, carpenters).
• Ability to prepare safety files and adhere to health and safety regulations on site.
• Capacity to manage project timelines, quality control, and site safety effectively.
• Provision of references for similar projects completed within the last five years.
