Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure the supply and professional installation of a specialised 1mm self-leveling epoxy flooring system at the CSIR Hemp Processing Centre in Bergville, Kwa-Zulu Natal. The project aims to deliver a high-performance, durable, and GMP-compliant epoxy flooring solution covering approximately 392m², including coving in clone rooms and sealing of joints to ensure optimal functionality and compliance.

Scope

The scope encompasses:

• Comprehensive floor preparation, including diamond grinding and crack filling.
• Installation of 75x75mm epoxy coving in three clone rooms and the main floor.
• Application of a 1mm self-leveling epoxy coating over the prepared surface.
• Cutting, re-sealing, and sealing of existing floor joints with high-quality sealants.
• Ensuring substrate strength (minimum 25 N/mm²) and moisture content (<6%).
• Completion within a two-week timeframe from project commencement.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications include:

• Mechanical diamond grinding of concrete substrate for adhesion.
• Dust mitigation during grinding using industrial vacuum systems.
• Identification and filling of surface imperfections with epoxy-based fillers.
• Installation of coving in clone rooms and sealing to match final floor finish.
• Application of epoxy primer (minimum 0.25mm DFT) with an 8-hour cure period.
• Application of a mid-grey self-leveling epoxy to achieve a 1mm DFT.
• Re-cutting and sealing of floor joints (~142lm) with hybrid polyurethane sealant.
• Verification of substrate moisture (<6%) and concrete compressive strength (≥25 N/mm²).
• Completion within 2 weeks of project start.

Skills Requirements

The successful contractor must possess:

• Proven experience in epoxy flooring installation, particularly self-leveling systems.
• Capability to perform mechanical grinding, crack filling, coving, and joint sealing to GMP standards.
• Ability to prepare and verify substrate conditions, including moisture and strength testing.
• Competence in applying epoxy primers, coatings, and coving materials according to OEM specifications.
• Knowledge of health and safety protocols, including dust mitigation and site safety management.
• Capacity to complete the project within the specified timeframe (2 weeks).
• Relevant CIDB registration with a grading of 2GB or higher.
