Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a service provider to conduct agricultural efficiency awareness and capacity building for stakeholders at the CoE Fresh Produce Market. The initiative aims to enhance productivity, sustainability, compliance, and competitiveness within the agricultural value chain, with a focus on small-scale and emerging farmers. It also seeks to improve market participation, reduce post-harvest losses, and support inclusive economic growth and food security.

Scope

The scope of work includes designing and implementing a comprehensive capacity building program that covers:

• Conducting needs assessments of market suppliers and beneficiaries
• Developing training curricula tailored for emerging and small-scale farmers
• Delivering training on agricultural efficiency, productivity improvement, climate-smart practices, soil and water management, post-harvest handling, quality standards, packaging, storage, pricing, business management, and regulatory compliance
• Facilitating workshops and practical demonstrations (physical and virtual)
• Tracking participation and attendance
• Developing monitoring and evaluation tools
• Providing reports at inception, progress, and final stages, including impact assessments

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements for the service provider include:

• Qualified agriculturalist with a Masters Degree or NQF level 9 in Agricultural Sciences and at least 5 years of experience in agricultural environments
• Development of training materials and practical demonstration capabilities
• Ability to deliver both physical and virtual workshops
• Development of monitoring and evaluation tools for measuring outcomes
• Provision of measurable impact reports
• Compliance with standards related to quality, safety, and environmental regulations

Skills Requirements

The skills and expertise required from the service provider include:

• Strong technical knowledge in agricultural sciences, productivity enhancement, and climate-smart practices
• Experience in designing and delivering capacity building and training programs for farmers and stakeholders
