Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is the construction of ablutions within the Building & Structures category, specifically for the Alton Workshop Ablutions project. The aim is to deliver a fully functional ablution facility that meets the specified technical and safety standards within the stipulated timeframe.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Construction of the ablutions building, including concrete roof slabs, lintels, and concrete blocks.
• Supply and installation of waterproofing, aluminium doors, windows, shower doors, and frames.
• Fitting of sanitary fixtures such as geysers, basins, urinal basins, toilet seats, cisterns, and associated plumbing.
• Installation of electrical components including wiring, socket outlets, fluorescent lights, and connection to the distribution board.
• Internal and external wall preparation, painting, tiling, and waterproofing.
• Roofing with N200 blocks and concrete mix for durability and strength.
• Provision of safety measures, scaffolding, and site clearance post-completion.

Technical Requirements

The project must adhere to the following technical specifications:

• Construction of a 100mm concrete roof slab with lintels and concrete blocks.
• Rubberized waterproofing application and waterproofing testing.
• Installation of 200-litre geysers, aluminium doors, windows, and shower doors with locksets.
• Fitting of sanitary fixtures including basins, urinals, and toilet sets with flushing mechanisms.
• Electrical wiring compliant with SANS standards, certified by a qualified electrician, and fully operational upon completion.
• Wall preparation for two coats of emulsion-based acrylic paint, both internally and externally.
• Application of external and internal paints with mold resistance, including enamel paint for metal surfaces.
• Roofing with concrete mix ratio of 1:1:2 (cement:sand:aggregates) achieving 25 MPa strength.
• Waterproofing with rubberized paint, tested for leaks.

Skills Requirements

The tenderer must demonstrate:

• Registration with the Central Suppliers Database (CSD) and provision of CSD number.
• Provision of a valid Letter of Good Standing from the Compensation Fund.
• Competence in construction, plumbing, electrical work, and painting, evidenced by relevant certifications and experience.
• Ability to adhere to safety standards, including PPE usage, scaffolding procedures, and site safety protocols.
• Experience in working on similar building projects, with references or previous project documentation.
• Capacity to manage project timelines, site safety, and quality control effectively.
