Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure generator servicing and maintenance services across various pump stations in the City of uMhlathuze. The service aims to ensure the generators operate efficiently during power outages, thereby maintaining water supply to the community and preventing unforeseen breakdowns through regular maintenance and servicing.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Servicing generators installed at multiple sites in Richards Bay, including Nseleni, Meerensee, Brackenham, and Mandlanzini Pump Stations.
• Performing maintenance as per manufacturer specifications, including replacement of filters (lube oil, fuel, coolant, air), coolant replacement, inspection/replacement of intercooler and fan, battery inspection, testing and replacement, and cleaning of generators.
• Issuance of service certificates and maintenance records.
• Attendance at a compulsory site meeting prior to commencement.
• Adherence to safety and environmental protocols during service activities.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements for the service include:

• Performing all service activities in accordance with manufacturer requirements.
• Replacing filters and coolant, inspecting and replacing air intake systems, intercoolers, fans, and batteries.
• Testing battery functionality and installing batteries (model 31S-870).
• Cleaning generators after servicing.
• Providing a service certificate upon completion.
• Ensuring generator engines are serviced by accredited technicians with relevant certifications.
• Disconnection of power sources before maintenance and signing off on permits to work.
• Submitting routine maintenance reports and ensuring generators operate efficiently post-service.

Skills Requirements

The skills and qualifications required for service providers include:

• Qualified and accredited technicians with expertise in generator engine servicing.
• Knowledge of generator specifications and manufacturer standards.
• Ability to work safely with appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Experience in performing maintenance on generators of similar capacity (minimum 100 KVA).
• Provision of relevant certifications for electrical, mechanical, and diesel mechanic technicians.
• Capability to produce detailed service reports and certificates.
