Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure herbicide application services in Enseleni, ensuring effective weed control through systemic and residual herbicides. The contractor is expected to carry out a single herbicide application during October/November 2025, with a focus on controlling a broad spectrum of weeds along street verges within Enseleni township.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Herbicide application over approximately 48 km of street verges in Enseleni township.
• Application of registered systemic and residual herbicides for pre- and post-emergence weed control.
• Conducting post-spraying inspections and retreating missed weeds.
• Maintaining detailed records of herbicide usage, application areas, and weather conditions.
• Ensuring safety, environmental, and public safety measures during spraying operations.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications and operational requirements include:

• Use of registered herbicides with specified active ingredients: Glyphosate isopropylamine salt (240 g/L), Glyphosate acid (180 g/L), and Terbuthylazine (345 g/L).
• Herbicide must be a single, registered product under Act 36 of 1947, not a mixture of multiple products.
• Provision of product name, registration number, and MSDS documentation.
• Minimum of three years’ experience in industrial herbicide spraying.
• Valid Pest Control Operator (PCO) registration and licensing.
• Appointment of a qualified, full-time supervisor during operations.
• Application must be precise, covering 10–15 cm wide along street verges, avoiding maintained or trimmed verges.
• Use of weed spray guards to prevent drift, and calibration of spraying equipment prior to commencement.
• Post-spraying inspection at least 5 days after application with retreatment of missed weeds.
• Adherence to environmental and safety regulations, including buffer zones near water bodies and sensitive areas.
• Proper storage, transportation, and disposal of herbicides and containers.

Skills Requirements

The contractor must demonstrate:

• At least three (3) years of proven experience in industrial herbicide spraying.
• Provision of valid PCO registration and licensing certificates.
• Ability to appoint and supervise qualified personnel during operations.
• Capability to calibrate spraying equipment and maintain detailed operational records.
• Knowledge of environmental and safety regulations related to herbicide application.
• Competence in conducting post-application inspections and retreatments.
• Experience in managing herbicide safety, spill response, and public safety measures.
