Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to establish a panel of qualified therapists through a 12-month contract, with the possibility of extension until 20 May 2026. The aim is to procure therapeutic services for the City of uMhlathuze, ensuring access to professional psychological and therapeutic interventions for a period of one year.

Scope

The scope encompasses providing therapeutic services by a panel of practitioners, including psychologists and educational psychologists, for a duration of 12 months. The services include clinical interventions, psychological assessments, crisis intervention, and development of therapeutic programs, with a total contract value not exceeding R300,000.00. The services also include conducting mental health workshops, where preferred.

• Provision of therapeutic services for individuals with emotional, psychological, and behavioral disorders.
• Development and support of therapeutic and behavioral management programs.
• Consultation with multi-agency teams to support learning and development.
• Conducting mental health workshops (preferred).

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify that practitioners must:

• Be registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) or relevant statutory bodies.
• Possess appropriate qualifications such as degrees in psychology, psychiatry, or related fields.
• Have specific experience levels depending on the category:
• Psychologists: minimum 5-10 years of experience, with proof of registration and good standing.
• Educational Psychologists: minimum 3-5 years of experience, with relevant registration.
• Provide evidence of capacity, including consultation rooms and lease agreements.
• Adhere to ethical standards and maintain good case management and record-keeping practices.
• Ensure safety and compliance with health and safety regulations, including PPE where necessary.

Skills Requirements

Practitioners must demonstrate the following skills:

• In-depth clinical intervention and psychological assessment skills.
• Ability to treat mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders.
• Counseling and psychotherapeutic skills, including exploring emotional issues and providing crisis intervention.
• Good interpersonal skills, empathy, and rapport-building abilities.
• Ability to develop, support, and implement therapeutic programs.
• Excellent observational, listening, and verbal communication skills.
• Capacity to work collaboratively with multi-agency teams and support learning and development initiatives.
• For educational psychologists: skills in designing and supporting learning and behavior management programs, and relating to children and young adults.
