Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to renovate the Water and Sanitation Offices at the Richards Bay Civic Centre to improve their functionality and appearance, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. The project aims to deliver a neat, functional, and safe working environment within the specified timeframe.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Renovation of multiple offices within the Richards Bay Civic Centre, including walls, floors, ceilings, and internal fixtures.
• Preparation of walls for painting, stripping old carpets and tiles, and installing new porcelain tiles and wall paint.
• Installation of built-in wooden shelving, cupboards, and internal fittings as per specifications.
• Creating ventilation provisions and internal modifications such as cutting drywall and installing sliding windows.
• Specific work for offices D221, D225, D224, D223, D222, C318, C317, D218, D224, storage areas, kitchen, and other designated spaces.
• Site clearance, rubble removal, and ensuring safety and cleanliness during and after construction.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Preparation of walls with two coats of wall paint according to specifications.
• Removal of old carpets, tiles, and other fixtures, with disposal at registered dump sites.
• Supply and installation of new porcelain floor tiles, skirting, and built-in cupboards with specified designs and specifications (refer to Annexure B).
• Construction of ventilation provisions, drywall modifications, and installation of sliding windows with fittings.
• Work procedures involving scaffolding, safety standards adherence (PPE), construction zone cordoning, and rubble removal.
• Final measurements to be taken on-site by the contractor.

Skills Requirements

The tender requires suppliers and contractors to possess:

• Registration with the Central Suppliers Database (CSD) and valid CSD number.
• Valid Good Standing Certificate from the Compensation Fund.
• Experience in office renovation, including wall preparation, tiling, carpentry, and drywall work.
• Competence in safe work procedures, scaffolding, and working at heights.
• Ability to prepare detailed work procedures, safety plans, and conduct safety checks.
• Knowledge of disposal procedures for construction debris and compliance with safety and health regulations.
• Capacity to provide certified documentation such as tax clearance certificates, safety files, and relevant permits.
