Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure electrical services for Richards Bay Airport, specifically to assess, remediate, verify, and certify the electrical installations in compliance with relevant standards such as SANS 10142-1. The contractor is also responsible for providing as-built drawings, labeling, testing, and ensuring minimal disruption to airport operations during the work.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Assessment of existing electrical installations at Richards Bay Airport.
• Carrying out remedial work to ensure compliance with SANS 10142-1.
• Verification and labeling of all circuits and distribution boards (DBs).
• Provision of as-built drawings for terminal building DBs, substation DBs, and air conditioning DBs.
• Labeling all distribution boards and circuits as per specified templates.
• Performing installation tests and issuing certificates of compliance.
• Ensuring work is carried out with minimal disruption to airport operations, including planning for outages and testing in the presence of the project leader.

Technical Requirements

The contractor must:

• Be registered as an electrical contractor in terms of OHSACT with a minimum grade of 1EB.
• Comply with SANS 10142-1 latest revision, ensuring no live work is carried out without proper tagging and isolation.
• Provide all necessary documentation, including OHSACT compliance, CSD registration, and a letter of good standing.
• Use approved materials and conduct tests as per SANS 10142-1 standards.
• Label all distribution boards and circuits clearly, and provide as-built drawings.
• Ensure neat installation, including chased wiring, properly fixed conduits, and safe isolation procedures.
• Carry out installation tests and provide certificates of compliance.
• Minimize disruptions during airport operations and coordinate outages with the project leader.

Skills and Qualification Requirements

The bidder must demonstrate:

• Experience in executing similar electrical assessment and certification projects, with at least 3 years of relevant experience.
• Successful completion of similar projects, supported by award letters, purchase orders, or certificates.
• Qualified personnel, including accredited electricians with at least 3 years of experience, trade certificates, and wireman’s licenses.
• Capability to provide CVs and proof of registration for key personnel.
• Registered with the Central Suppliers Database (CSD) and the Municipal Council Database.
• Provision of a letter of good standing from the Compensation Fund.
• Ability to submit all required technical and financial documentation, including project plans, drawings, and test certificates.
