Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure tree cutting services at the North Section of the City of uMhlathuze. The work aims to ensure the safe clearance of trees near electrical lines, maintaining safety and reliability of the electrical infrastructure.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Tree cutting along both sides of the MV (Medium Voltage) line, with trees maintained at least 5 meters below the MV and LV (Low Voltage) lines.
• Ensuring the work area is tidy and free of material on structures or lines that could break conductors.
• Work to be carried out on council property with safety precautions in place.
• Isolation of apparatus when necessary, with work permits issued to responsible personnel.
• Tree cutting above 2 meters from ground level using safety harnesses or belts.
• Use of fibre glass ladders only; aluminium ladders are not permitted.
• Provision of own transport for loading and removing cut branches from the site.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Attendance at a compulsory site meeting scheduled for 30 July 2026 at 09:00 at Alton Electrical Workshop.
• Adherence to safety protocols, including apparatus isolation and earthling when deemed necessary.
• Use of appropriate safety gear such as safety belts or harnesses when working above 2 meters.
• Provision of own transport for branch removal.
• Compliance with all safety and technical standards specified by the municipality.

Skills Requirements

The skills and qualifications required for the service providers include:

• Qualified personnel trained in tree cutting near electrical infrastructure.
• Experience in working safely around MV and LV electrical lines.
• Ability to operate safety equipment and use fibre glass ladders.
• Capability to manage and remove debris efficiently from the site.
• Registration with the Central Suppliers Database (CSD) and proof of good standing with relevant authorities.
