Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to solicit quotations for tree felling activities at Meerensee, scheduled to be completed by 04 August 2026. The project aims to safely remove designated trees, ensure minimal damage to existing infrastructure, and restore the site to its prior condition after completion.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Bringing necessary labour, equipment, and tools for tree felling and removal.
• Chopping trees, removing from roots, and dumping at approved sites.
• Ensuring no damage to existing services such as pipelines, electric cables, and fences.
• Cleaning the area and leaving it in good condition post-operation.
• Fixing any damages caused during work.
• Felling trees as designated by the Council Supervisor, with a list of trees attached.
• Disposing of logs, limbs, chips, and debris generated by the work.
• Adhering to safety and traffic management standards during operations.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Use of appropriate equipment such as chainsaws, concrete breakers, ropes, cones, danger tape, and PPE (helmet, safety boots, glasses, shin pads, earmuffs).
• Compliance with Health and Safety standards, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Construction Regulations.
• Proper tree cutting and pruning procedures, including pre-cutting branches, limb removal, and controlled felling to prevent property damage.
• Protection of utilities and surrounding structures during tree removal operations.
• Site cleanup after each day’s work, including removal of debris, sawdust, and small branches.
• Use of mechanical devices like ropes to lower limbs and trunks, ensuring safety and damage prevention.
• Adherence to traffic safety standards, with prior arrangements for street closures and adequate barricades and warning signs.

Skills Requirements

The skills and qualifications required include:

• Competency in chainsaw operation, evidenced by relevant certificates.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to tree felling and construction work.
• Experience in handling tree removal in urban environments, including working around utilities and public infrastructure.
• Ability to perform site cleanup and debris disposal efficiently.
• Capability to implement traffic management and safety measures during operations.
• Registration with the Central Suppliers Database (CSD) and provision of a valid Good Standing certificate.
